MY FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT KEY WEST!!
I feel sorry for those who go on cruises, stop in Key West for a few hours, and never see the uniqueness. You will not find the best of Key West in t-shirt shops on Duval Street.
Here are my recommendations after many years of exploring the true essence of Key West:
What to do!
Fort Zachary Taylor Beach and State Park By far the most beautiful beach on the island. You are practically there when staying at Susan's Key West Condo. Smathers Beach is popular, however, not spectacularly beautiful. You have not been to the best of Key West until you have been to Fort Zachary Taylor beach. The greatest sunset view in Key West is from the shore of Fort Zachary Taylor Beach!

Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square You will never find a more colorful group of performers, vendors and artists. Make sure you see Will Soto the juggler, tight rope artist and comedian. Same time, 365 days a year.

Mel Fisher's Maritime Museum The story of Mel Fisher makes this museum great. Make sure you watch the 20 minute film of his life in the museum theatre before touring the treasures. The museum is very close to the condo.

Snorkeling - Para Sailing - Boat Trips Find a captain to take you SNORKELING or on a SUNSET CRUISE. Avoid the booze cruises . They usually can start out festive and end with most of the guests leaning over the side of the boat sick. Not pleasant!
Harry Truman's Little White House If you find presidential history fascinating, don't miss this museum on the site of Truman Annex. In 1946 the historic building first served as the winter White House of President Harry S. Truman and a site for the Cold War response by later presidents. Today, the Truman Little White House is a public, living museum as well as a retreat and place of government business by our nation's leaders.

La Concha is the bar with the best view of Key West. Go to the seventh floor of La Concha at the corner of Duval and Fleming. The mixed drinks don't impress so stick to beer and wine while enjoying the most amazing 360 degree view of Key West.

Pat Dailey Go see him if you want to see the most talented singer and song writer. He plays for the whole month of February and first week of March at Sloppy Joe's Bar. If you are lucky enough to be in Key West when he is playing, you are very fortunate. He is more talented than Jimmy Buffett and Willie Nelson. Pat was a very close friend and collaborated with Key West's legendary writer Shel Silverstein. Shel and Pat created a children's CD, "Underwater Land." Pat's show is for adults!
